Grasshoppers

Grasshoppers are general feeders on grasses and weeds, and often move onto cultivated crops. Crop damage is likely to be more severe in drought seasons when grasshopper populations are high. Drought condition reduce natural vegetation, forcing grasshoppers to move into cultivated crops. Both the nymphs (immature adults) and adults feed on corn at any plant stage.
